In this post, we’re going to talk about what Buffalo Wild Wing’s allergen statement is, what you can expect if you’re trying to eat gluten-free at this restaurant, and what menu items you might be okay with eating while on a gluten-free diet.

“We know many of our valued Guests have varying degrees of food intolerances and allergies they deal with daily.
To ensure you have a safe experience, please review the following information to assist you with selecting menu options that best fit your individual needs.
Because of our reliance on suppliers for accurate information, shared cooking and preparation areas in our kitchens, and cooking procedures, we cannot eliminate the risk of cross-contact or guarantee that any item is free of any allergen and no items are certified gluten-free, vegetarian or vegan.
Before placing your order, please inform your server if a person in your party has a food allergy.”
What you need to know about eating gluten-free at Buffalo Wild Wings
Buffalo Wild Wings is very clear that they use ingredients in their kitchens with gluten and that there is a high likelihood of cross contamination in their kitchens. Knowing this is helpful so that you can make a decision before even stepping foot in the restaurant.
If you know that you can’t tolerate even small amounts of gluten from cross contact, you can make the choice to not even visit this restaurant.
Buffalo Wild Wings makes their allergen guide straightforward by sharing which items contain wheat or gluten, and which items have a risk of cross contamination due to the cooking method (mostly frying) and shared utensils.
This is extremely helpful if you are looking for options that don’t contain wheat or gluten but also don’t have a strong reaction to trace amounts of gluten that’s found from cross contamination usually.

“Normal kitchen operations often involve shared cooking, preparation areas and tools; for that reason the possibility and risk exists for allergen-containing food items to come in contact with other food products.
FOR EXAMPLE:
- We do not use separate fryers; due to this use of shared fryers there is the potential for allergen cross-contact between fried foods.
- Our Traditional, Boneless and Cauliflower Wings are fried then sauced or seasoned in the same bowls.
- We grill many items that contain allergens, therefore cross-contact may occur during the grilling process.”

What to know about cross contamination at restaurants
Most restaurants are not considered gluten-free establishments so it’s useful to keep this in mind when making decisions about where to go and what to order.
It’s important to know that even if a fast food restaurant claims that their menu items do not contain gluten, that the possibility and probability of gluten in their products is going to be high if there is even one menu item with gluten available.
Depending on your level of sensitivity to gluten, this can be make or break information for you.
If you are Celiac and are allergic to trace amounts of gluten, you’ll likely want to avoid most fast food restaurants that offer any bread products or French fries that are cooked in a shared fryer with other gluten-containing ingredients.
If you are not sensitive to gluten at the trace level and have adverse reactions to gluten due to a food intolerance, you may decide that these trace amounts of gluten from cross contamination are worth risking for a quick, easy, and convenient food option.

Buffalo Wild Wings does not offer a dedicated gluten-free menu. They do have menu items that they say do not contain any wheat or gluten ingredients, but that there is still a risk of cross contamination in their prep areas.

Buffalo Wild Wings doesn’t make any claims on any of their wings being gluten-free. They know there is a chance for cross contamination during preparation in their kitchens.
They do, however, show on their website that their Traditional Wings do not contain any gluten ingredients. They don’t include sauces in that.
They make it clear elsewhere in their nutrition and allergen information that gluten and wheat may be be present from shared fryers, shared utensils, and shared prep surfaces in the kitchen.
Are Buffalo Wild Wings cauliflower wings gluten-free?
The cauliflower wings from Buffalo Wild Wings aren’t considered gluten-free by the restaurant, because they are fried in the same fryer as other foods that may contain gluten or wheat ingredients. They also are coated in sauce in the same bowls as wings that contain gluten.
If you are sensitive to gluten, you can assume this menu option isn’t a great choice for you due to the high probability of cross contamination.
Are Buffalo Wild Wings fries gluten-free?
